Earlier this week all the buzz was that iOS 4.2 would be released by today and all in the world would be right again with new text tones on the iPhone and multi-tasking on the iPad. Little did we know that it would be delayed even longer. Officially today, iTunes 10.1 update was pushed out showing that the pre-party has started for 4.2 but there were apparently some WiFi, issues in 4.2, so Apple rolled out another Gold Master to developers to make sure everything is good by the final release.
Some are really anticipating this update and are frustrated a little, but hey we would rather see it released with less bugs and be more solid in the long term. iTunes 10.1 updates iTunes to bring you Airplay to wireless stream videos, it allows you to sync an iOS device with 4.2, and has some bug fixes and performance improvements. So go ahead and update iTunes and hopefully by this time next week we will have iOS 4.2 installed and running on our devices.
