AT&T Announces MiFi and Talks about HSPA+

Well the big Orange has finally added a MiFi to their lineup of data devices. The MiFi 2370 will be HSPA+ capable and be ran by Novatel’s Operating System that does support widgets and apps, which we are not sure you need or not. A very interesting thing about it also is that is has a micro SDHC card slot that supports up to 32GB and will allow up to 5 people to hop onto the hotspot. The MiFi will be available on November 21st for 50 dollars after a mail in rebate, and you will have plan options to pick from. A lower 200MB option for $35 per month and the larger 5GB option for $60 per month.

Along side of the MiFi AT&T is saying they have 80% of their network upgraded to HSPA+ now. They are not calling their HSPA+ network 4G like some other carrier we know of, eh hem, but the speeds reported are not as fast either with some people getting around 5MB downloads on speed test. We are positive that AT&T will not be hesitant to call their LTE network rollout “4G” next year when Verizon jumps on the LTE 4G name calling bandwagon. Did someone turn the heat up in here or is it just me?
