The hacking community has been hard at work on getting us a way to sideload apps on the new Windows Phone 7 operating system. Microsoft has taken a different approach this time in locking their OS down, similar to how Apple does with the iPhone. They have come out to tell us their thoughts on the matter.
“We anticipated that people would attempt to unlock the phones and explore the underlying operating system. We encourage people to use their Windows Phone as supplied by the manufacturer to ensure the best possible user experience. Attempting to unlock a device could void the warranty, disable phone functionality, interrupt access to Windows Phone 7 services or render the phone permanently unusable.”
So there you have it. It seems that they are not real worried about people hacking on the OS, they do however warn us what COULD happen, but not always will be the case. We hope that they are not to harsh on the hacker community being that we know their will be some really cool things that come from jailbreaking your phone. We will keep you posted on more details of this as they unfold.
